Raluca Ghiban born in Petrosani, Romania. Her love for fine art, music and dance it was shown from an early age. At the age of 6 she studied piano forte for 10 years, During primary school all the way through high school Raluca performed in numerous theater plays, winning poetry contests and exhibiting her paintings in a verity of art exhibitions along local famous artists. After high school Raluca moved to Cluj-Napoca where she attended The University Of Art and Design. In 2003 Raluca moved to Savannah, GA, USA where she found her love for oriental “belly dance”. She started performing professionally at “Casbah” restaurant with 35 shows a week. During her performances, Raluca radiates with joy and passion, her uncanny aptitude for sizing the audience’s imagination turned her into one of the most admired and beloved belly dancers. Raluca as a self-taught belly dancer won the admiration of her audiences through her amazing talent , besides Classical Egyptian Oriental Dance , Raluca offers spicy folk dances around middle east and eastern europe ( iskandarany, fellahin , nubian, ghawazee , balady , shabbi,dances from Tunisia and Saudi Arabia, romani/gypsy dances from Romania ) , often seen using a variety of props like veils, zills, swords, cane, shamadan, tambourine , isis wings , fan veils, dumbek, water jug and much more.
In 2012 Dallas ,Tx Raluca won first place at the Queen of Raks Sharqi Belly dance competition with famous egyptian dancers judges like Mona El Said , Aida Nour , Dandash, Osama Emam, Lubna Emam and Friz.
Raluca has been teaching and performing around USA and abroad . She was exclusively invited to perform for the Jellesy Jeans Fasion Event in Hollywood, Ca by fashion designer Steven Shaul ( hoast of High Maintenance TV show ) , event broadcasted by Fashion TV and VH1 the letter by which she was interviewed. She’s been featured in magazines and periodicals from Ga ( South Magazine , Savannah morning news ) , Ca ( 944.com magazine). Raluca performed to live music by Mario Rayes of the Gypsy kings, Elan Vital , Raqui and the cavemen NYC ,in addition to live bands from Savannah and Atlanta Ga, Hilton Head,Sc, Detroit Mi, Orlando and Tallahassee Fl and much more . She’s been featured in “The Blowing Trees” music video “The Day the World Left Me” as several movies produced by Savannah Collage of Art and Design students including a documentary about middle eastern dance.
